Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information The Moment Before ("we," "us," "our") collects, why, and how we handle it. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where it applies, the EU/UK GDPR and similar laws.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, and password (stored hashed).
- Invitation content: names, family names, event dates, venues, photos, and audio you add to your invitation. This is content you choose to make visible to your guests.
- Guest RSVP information: when a guest responds to your invitation, we collect the name, guest count, event selections, and any note they submit, on your behalf.
- Payment information: handled by our payment processor. We receive confirmation of payment and the last four digits of the card, never full card numbers.
- Technical information: basic logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) used for security and to keep the service working.
2. How we use it
- To provide the service: hosting your invitation, collecting RSVPs, showing your dashboard.
- To process payments and send transactional email (receipts, RSVP notifications, account messages).
- To secure and improve the service.
- We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your guests' information for marketing.
3. Guests' information
RSVP details are collected for the couple who published the invitation and shared with them alone. If you are a guest and want your RSVP corrected or deleted, contact the couple or email us and we will assist.
4. Sharing
We share information only with service providers who help us run the platform (hosting, payment processing, email delivery), each bound by contract to protect it; and where required by law. Your published invitation is visible to anyone who has its link, so share the link thoughtfully.
5. Retention
Invitation and RSVP data is kept while your invitation is live and for a reasonable period afterwards, then deleted or anonymized. Account data is kept while your account is active. You can request deletion at any time (see Section 7).
6. Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the relevant authority of any breach as required by law.
7. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, withdraw consent, or ask questions about our practices by emailing hello@themomentbefore.ca. If you are in the EU/UK you also have rights to portability, restriction, and objection, and may lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. In Canada you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
8. Cookies
We use only essential cookies and local storage: keeping you signed in and saving your invitation drafts. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
9. Children
The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information beyond guest names a couple or guest chooses to submit in an RSVP.
10. International transfers
Our servers and providers may be located outside your province or country, including in the United States. Where data leaves your jurisdiction, we use providers with appropriate safeguards.
11. Changes
We will post any changes here with a new "last updated" date and, for material changes, notify account holders by email.
12. Contact
Privacy questions or requests: contact us or email hello@themomentbefore.ca.
